Kickstart English Summer Camp Bern 2026A fun and immersive English programme for local students aged 7–18
Give your child the opportunity to strengthen their English in July 2026 at the International School of Berne (ISBerne) with our Kickstart English Summer Camp.
Created especially for local families in the Bern region, this full-day summer camp offers students a unique experience that feels like studying abroad — without ever leaving Bern. Through daily lessons and activities in English, students are immersed in the language in a natural and engaging way.
The camp takes place at the International School of Berne (ISBerne) in Gümligen, a private day school where English is the primary language of instruction. Founded in 1961, our school welcomes students from Switzerland and around the world and provides a warm and supportive learning environment.
The programme is designed for students aged 7 to 18 who would like to improve their English during the summer holidays in Bern. We welcome both beginners and those with English experience.
Programme Highlights
- Small learning groups with experienced English-speaking teachers
- English lessons each morning that build confidence in speaking and understanding the language
- Sports, games, and creative activities in English each afternoon
- A full-day programme including lunch and snacks
- Open to all students from any school in the Bern region
How Campers Spend Their Day
Mornings are devoted to structured English lessons in small groups organised by age and language level, ensuring that each student learns at an appropriate pace and gains confidence in speaking and understanding English.
In the afternoons, students practise their English through enjoyable, hands-on activities outside the classroom. Campers take part in arts and crafts, sports, and games, such as tie-dye T-shirts, painting projects, and team-sport challenges in our gym or on our outdoor fields — all guided by our staff and conducted in English to support natural language development.
On the Wednesday of each camp week, students participate in a supervised excursion to a local attraction, such as an adventure park, climbing centre, bowling alley, or escape room. These outings offer a safe and enjoyable way for students to practise English while building confidence, teamwork, and independence.

What our Parents Say
Sophie came home on the second day of the Summer Camp and spoke English for the rest of the evening. After two difficult years learning English at school, she had completely lost interest in the language. It is incredible to see how quickly she has gained confidence and enjoyment in speaking English again. Priscilla, Camp Parent
