What are the Benefits?
The Early Learning Centre Programme at the International School of Berne (ISBerne) will help to provide your child the best start in life. Some of the most important learning we do happens early, and our expert teachers challenge and support each child to grow as a whole person while excelling academically. We do that by building a learning experience personalized to your child’s unique needs.
Here are some additional benefits of participating in Early Learning Centre programme:
Leading International Curriculum
A child’s early years are the best time to lay the foundation for their future. We want them to learn the value of focus and problem-solving, but also the importance of play, curiosity and enthusiasm.
We follow the International Baccalaureate® (IB) curriculum, which draws on inquiry-based learning, and is designed to foster a sense of wonder and possibility that empowers each child to excel.
At ISBerne, your child will be instructed by expert teachers for early childhood education and specialist teachers for the Arts, Sports, and Library.
Our ELC teaching team has enjoyed a long tenure at ISBerne and is well-equipped with the skills, knowledge, and experience to support your child's cognitive, behavioral, social, and physical development. Our teachers work collaboratively to enable all students to learn effectively, provide support for each child's academic and pastoral needs, and uphold the ISBerne Mission at all times.
Our campus provides the ideal environment for your child to learn and grow. Our classrooms and outdoor areas are spaces that celebrate and encourage learning.
When setting up and adapting learning spaces, teachers are mindful of the children’s sense of belonging, cultural identity and needs, and the connections they will make. At our Early Learning Centre, your child will benefit from the following amenities:
- Modern, specialty built facilities
- Beautiful location near to forests and farmland
- Large outdoor play area
- Inviting classrooms with access to additional technology resources
- Well resourced Library and Media Centre
- State-of-the-art Theatre and Aula
- Large indoor Gym
- Private kitchen and eating area
- Fresh, healthy lunch service
ISBerne believes that language is at the heart of learning because learning additional languages enhances cognitive development and supports international understanding and opportunities.
Our ELC students benefit from both English and German in the classroom during the school day. Our unique approach offers benefits in terms of cognitive development, integration into the local community, and enhanced communication opportunities.
A Small Programme with Big School Benefits
Visits to our Gym and Library, playtime in a large, private playground, and access to technology resources enrich our programme. Our students attend and actively participate in whole school activities and school productions. In addition, they have bi-annual performances for parents on stage in our Aula.
Special learning engagements with other grades improve our young students' social and communication skills and promote a sense of community.
Ski and Skate Fridays
During the Winter season, all students at ISBerne take part in our Ski and Skate Friday programme. Over a seven-week period, students in our ELC programme take the tram each week to the ice rink at Wislepark in the nearby village of Worb. They enjoy ice skating lessons, where they work on their stability, control, strength, and endurance.
International Networking for Parents
At ISBerne, our parent community is a crucial component of our school's heart and culture. ISBerne has an active Parent-Teacher Association (PTC), which dedicates itself to ensuring that every member of our community feels welcomed and has many chances to get involved. You will have the opportunity to develop new friendships with other globally minded parents and take part in special events and activities.
