Building a strong foundation for a lifetime

Since 1961, Grades 6 – 8 at the International School of Berne (ISBerne) have been a vibrant, student-centered community. Following the International Baccalaureate® Middle Years Programme (MYP), our programme meets the unique needs of young adolescents as they develop the knowledge, understanding, attitudes, and skills necessary to participate actively and responsibly in a changing world. Just as our school’s mission states: “We welcome and connect. We nurture and inspire. We challenge and prepare.”

Grades 6-8 mark a crucial stage in a student's development, where they build, reflect, and strengthen the attitudes, values, and dispositions that will shape their future. At ISBerne, we are committed to supporting them in developing the skills they require for their overall well-being and future success. Since most students seek more independence during these years, we create an environment that offers them more control over their experience, preparing them for the more complex life choices they will face.

To help our students make sense of the world, discover who they are, and who they want to become, we offer them a diverse range of learning experiences to cultivate their understanding of themselves as learners and global citizens. By helping them identify their strengths, passions, and interests, we prepare them to make informed decisions and become ready for the next stage of their education.
