Accreditation

Driven by Quality Standards

The International School of Berne is fully accredited by the world's leading agencies and an authorized International Baccalaureate (IB) World School. The educational authorities of Canton Bern also supervise our school, and we operate with their full approval.

Our ISBerne mission drives our ongoing growth and development. The accreditations, authorizations, memberships, and partnerships we have earned are marks of our school's long-standing reputation for excellence in international education.

Accreditation

The International School of Berne was first accredited in 1984 by the world's leading agencies, the Council of International Schools (CIS) and the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC). We were re-accredited in 1994, 2004,  2015 and 2024.

Successful accreditation is a true mark of quality for an academic institution and a highly valued recognition of the school's overall standards of teaching and learning. The accreditation process is rigorous and comprehensive and aimed at affirming current practice and providing a framework for development and improvement.

Authorizations

Since 1995, ISBerne has been an International Baccalaureate® (IB) World School. We are part of a network of 5,000 schools worldwide in delivering their high-quality education programs, which support the development of knowledgeable and inquiring students.

The International Baccalaureate® is a non-profit educational foundation offering highly respected programmes of international education that develop the intellectual, personal, emotional, and social skills needed to live, learn and work in a globalizing world. The IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) and IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) enable schools to internally develop their curriculum based on the local context. The IB Diploma Programme (DP) prepares older students for the IB's externally validated examinations leading to university entrance.
