Discovery Day at ISBerne
Let your child experience a day at our private day school.
Choosing the right school is an important decision. Discovery Day gives your child the opportunity to experience the International School of Berne (ISBerne) for themselves and discover what it feels like to be part of our school community.
Children and young people ages 3–18 are invited to join their corresponding ISBerne class, take part in lessons, meet students and teachers, and experience everyday school life on our campus in Gümligen.

A School Day, Experienced First-Hand
Rather than simply hearing about ISBerne, your child can experience our school for themselves.
Each visit is planned around your child’s age, grade and prospective programme. Depending on their age and the length of their visit, your child may:
- Join regular lessons and classroom activities
- Meet students and teachers
- Experience learning in their prospective programme
- Explore our campus
- Enjoy lunch in our school cafeteria
- Get a feel for everyday life at ISBerne
Your child will join the appropriate class and spend time alongside our current students. For younger children, we will arrange a shorter visit, with a parent joining for part of the experience where appropriate.
An Ideal Opportunity During the Autumn School Holidays
Discovery Day takes place while many local schools are on holiday break. This gives families in the Bern region a convenient opportunity to experience ISBerne without their child missing a day at their current school.
Whether you are considering a change of school or simply interested in discovering what ISBerne could offer your child, you are welcome to take part.
Discovery Day for Ages 3 to 18
Discovery Day is open to prospective students across ISBerne, from the Early Learning Centre through Grade 12.
Depending on your child’s age, they can experience our International Baccalaureate (IB) programmes, our German–English pathway following Lehrplan 21, or our Grade 10 Bridging Year.
If you are unsure which programme would be most suitable for your child, our Welcome Team will be happy to guide you through the options.
An Opportunity for Parents
While your child experiences school life, Discovery Day is also an opportunity for you to get to know ISBerne.
Depending on your child's age, you may be able to join them for part of their visit. You will also have the opportunity to speak with the relevant Divisional Principal and ask questions about learning, school life, and what a transition to ISBerne could look like for your child.

Once registered, our Welcome Team will contact you to learn more about your child, answer your questions and confirm the arrangements for their visit. Our team is happy to assist you in English, German or French.
