Special Educational Needs (SEN)

Students with Special Educational Needs are admitted to ISBerne if they are able to benefit from the school curriculum. Each subject teacher addresses students' needs in the classroom by adapting the material to suit individual learning styles. The SEN Coordinator is available to offer support and advice where necessary. Some diagnostic testing can be carried out for students experiencing difficulties with the academic programme.

Students who require individual help with specific skills are offered individual or small group support outside the classroom by the SEN Coordinator. In this case an Individual Education Plan (IEP) is drawn up with specific targets for each student. This is made available to parents and is reviewed regularly. Usually support lessons are timetabled against one Foreign Language, but other arrangements can be made for students who do not require this level of support.
