Economics

"Economists know the cost of everything and the value of nothing" - Oscar Wilde

The IB Economics course attempts to dispel this notion!

Key areas of focus: there is a strong emphasis on international issues and development, understanding major economic problems facing the world today and possible solutions.
An Economics student recently announced with pride that for the first time he had understood an article on the front page of the International Herald Tribune which discussed the U.S. federal bank raising interest rates. He now understood it was a macroeconomic tool used by the American government to curb a slight inflationary tendency in the U.S economy, both encouraging saving and discouraging borrowing at the same time.
While we prepare students for success in the I.B. exams we also want our students to have a greater awareness and understanding of current issues as presented in the media.
