The MYP Academic Programme

The International School of Berne is one of the few schools world-wide authorized to offer all three IB programmes. In addition to the IB curriculum, the school continues to offer an international diploma accredited by New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) and the Council of International Schools (CIS).  New in 2011, ISBerne Online extends this international diploma to students around the world.

The International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (IB MYP), for students aged 11-16, concentrates on five areas of interaction, which are:

  • Approaches to Learning
  • Community and Service
  • Human Ingenuity
  • Environments
  • Health and Social Education

ISBerne currently offers the following courses:

English, French, German, mathematics, integrated science (biology, chemistry, and physics), history, geography, art, drama, music, information and design technology, physical education, community and service, library skills, and personal and social education (PSE).

All students finish their MYP studies in Grade 10 with a personal project (a major piece of independent study) and, upon successful completion of their studies, receive certification from the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO).
