It’s Official – Ground Breaking Ceremony marks the beginning of a new era for ISBerne

Mr Andreas Rickenbacher, Minister of Economic Affairs for the Canton of Berne, presided over the ceremony.

Today, August 21st, 2015, the International School of Berne held it’s official Ground Breaking Ceremony. This ceremony followed the Swiss tradition of laying the foundation stone, complete with the customary box filled with mementos and well wishes for the future of ISBerne. Mr Andreas Rickenbacher, Minister of Economic Affairs, presided over the ceremony accompanied by the Mayor of Muri-Guemligen, Mr Thomas Hanke; Mr Rolf Dahler, President of the Burgergemeinde; Mr Thomas Frutiger of Frutiger AG; Mr Bruce Davis, ISBerne Board Chair and Mr Richard Swart, Director of ISBerne.

The school whole-heartedly thanks the community of Muri-Guemligen and the canton of Berne for their support in this project, which has been so long in the planning. We all rejoice to see our collective work finally coming to fruition. The new campus will rightly be a point of pride for the community and canton, and it will support the continuation of the quality education that ISBerne provides. It is due to this history of quality that we find ourselves here today, here at the cusp of a new era for the International School of Berne.
