The weather didn’t stop us! ISBerne Kindergarten and Grade 1 students enjoyed another skating day in Berne.

Sometimes there are benefits when you are in Kindergarten and 1st Grade!

As you can see above, ISBerne students in ISBerne’s early grades still enjoyed their skating time this morning as part of the continued ISBerne Elementary Skating Fridays programme.  Ice Skating is part of ISBerne’s Winter Sports Activity Programme, which is a compulsory component of the Physical Education (P.E.) Curriculum. The activity takes place on the seven Ski Friday mornings during the second term. The students learn to skate under the expert guidance of professional ice-skating teachers at the indoor Allmend Ice Rink at Wankdorf in Berne.

Although severe winds in Zweisimmen thwarted the 5th Ski Friday for our students in Grades 2 – 12, it was an important decision to keep our students safe.  Each week, ISBerne works closely with the directors of the Zweisimmen Ski School and cancels the activity on their recommendation.

But there is good news -  a reserve day is now activated on 15 March.  ISBerne students, staff and parents will certainly be looking forward to that extra day of lessons and fun on the Spring slopes.
