The International School of Berne is a non-profit association registered under Swiss law. The Parent Teacher Association elects a Board of Directors that oversees the school's governance. All parents are automatically members of the Parent Teacher Association and, as such, have the right to vote for School Board members and to stand for board membership themselves.

The current members on the Board of Directors are:

• David Arthern – Chair of the Board of Directors
• Markus Stebler – Vice-Chair of the Board
• Laurel Walker – Treasurer of the Board and Chair of the Finance Committee
• Rolf Gregor – Secretary of the Board and Chair of the New Site Task Force
• Paul Ehrhardt – Chair of the Policy and Nomination Committee
• Cornelia Geidatzis- Chair of the Education Committee
• Julian Mahari - Chair of the Development Committee
• Kevin Page – Director of the School

The Chair of the Board, David Arthern, and the Director, Kevin Page, are ex officio members of all committees.
