We had a fantastic day on Monday 3rd May, despite the rain, at Neufeld stadium in Berne for our ISBerne Track and Field meet. The weather seemed quite miserable at the beginning, but this did not deter our students who all got out there and had a go in the rain. Unfortunately we could not do the Highjump events, as the wet ground made the run-up unsafe.
However, as the day fined up we managed to get all the other field events completed. It was fantastic to see so many students competing in so many events, with many completely exhausted by the end of the day. It was also great to have the Grade 11 students helping out as track, field and age group officials, contributing to the smooth running of the day.
There were many outstanding individual performances that included seven records being broken. These included:
Josie (grade 4) 9/10yrs Girls 800m 3.21.72mins
Aidan (grade 4) 9/10yrs Boys 800m 3:11.96mins
Aidan (grade 4) Ball Throw 33.45m
Matthew (grade 6) 11/12yrs Boys 100m 15.95secs
Moira (grade 5) 11/12yrs Girls 100m 16.43secs
Gabriel (grade 9) 15/16yrs Boys 800m 2:10.13mins
Orell (grade 8) 13/14yrs Boys Shot Put 12.03m
Congratulations to all these students as well as the six fastest girls and boys who ran in the invitational 100m at the end of the day. The Girls’ race included Emily, Amelia, Tina, Alessia, Csilla and Zoe, with Amelia taking out the title. The boys included Christos, Yannis, Tomohiro, Alexander, Orell and Ossian, with Chistos taking the honours for the boys.
The individual results and the complete rankings can be found on the Welcome page in the Parents' Portal.
Thank you very much to all the parents who came and supported our students, especially to those wonderful parents who offered their expertise in running the field events. We look forward to seeing you again on Thursday 27th May.
